Our Dogliani DOCG is a delicious red wine from Piemonte. With its deep ruby red color and aromas of dark berries, cherries and a hint of spices, the taste is full-bodied and well-balanced with soft tannins and a long aftertaste. It goes well with dishes such as pasta, risotto, and various meats. Can be served slightly chilled during the summer.
On a hill, just a few hundred meters outside Santuario di Vicoforte, lies Bricco Barucco - the small vineyard of the Barucco family with a wonderful view of the hills, San Rocco chapel and Monastery of Santa Chiara.
We are at the southernmost tip of Langhe region (Piedmont), on an altitude of 550 meters, at the foot of the Maritime Alps.
Dolcetto vines have been grown here by local peasants since the 1970s.
Our aim is to revitalize this historical vineyard and start to produce, from 2023, a small quantity of authentic DOGLIANI red wine, relying on the unique qualities such old vines may offer especially in this area, where for centuries the Dolcetto has been grown.
The Dolcetto grape has grown in the Dogliani region, the southern part of Langhe, since the 16th century.
Even though Dolcetto means ‘the little sweet one’ in Italian, it does not give sweet wines. On the contrary Dolcetto gives a very balanced wine, round, dark and young wine, which pairs well with a lot of different food.
We cannot agree more with wine expert Tom Hyland who writes in this Forbes article that Dolcetto is “Piedmont’s Most Charming and Underrated Red Wine”.
